Werkendam – Two 10,000 DWT coastal bauxite carries have been delivered and loaded at Nantong China on Wednesday 27 June 2018 on board of the heavy load vessel ms Talisman.

The Coastal Classed bauxite carriers were built by Concordia Damen Shipbuilding commissioned by SMT shipping. This Dutch ordering party is going to use the two vessels for transport of bauxite in Guinea, West Africa.

The Cape Verga Pearl I has been launched first, after christening by Mrs. Pryor. Launching happened on the Chinese way; trough air bellows. Cape Verga Pearl II launched a few days later whereafter the vessels were outfitted at Shipyard Tengda in Yanzhou, in cooperation with Sinocross Marine Service, designed by DJ Marine Engineering Co., Ltd.

The vessels have been classified by RINA for restricted coastal Navigation and provided with the statement ‘coastal 20 Nm’. Both vessels will be used for transport of bauxite to a transfer point at sea off the coast of Guinea.

There was  a successful sea trial on the Yangze river after the outfitting. The vessels were officially transmitted to SMT shipping at arrival in the harbor of Nantong.

The ms Talisman (Boskalis) will deliver the vessels near the harbor of Conakry West-Africa early September. Concordia Damen on-site will commission the vessels locally in close cooperation with SMT shipping.
